Subject : Have you noticed casinos never make payouts in $10 bills? posted by SleightOfHand on Sep-06-2010 11:27pm |
I don’t get it as to why casinos never give any $10 bills as soon as you cash in a ticket at the cashier confine or the ticket release machine. |

| Hey everyone! I'm going to Vegas for 5 days and I was wondering if anyone had real time intelligence on where to play some good 6 deck games? I bought the current Blackjack news, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions where to play. thanks. Tony |

Some six deck games on the Las Vegas Strip are among the best offered in the world. MGM, NYNY, Aria, Wynn, and other 6 deck carpet joints on the Strip are only a .26 casino edge. Most are $25 minimum with late surrrender, S17, RSA to water down the odds of losing applying only basic strategy. A decent card count will aid the player to a positive advantage faster than double deck games with H17 in Vegas. Not many of these games left, since they have been eaten by CSM's and 6:5 blackjack. As for keno, Lee Pete of KDWN sports talk radio in the 80's once said, "In case of an eathquake, go to a keno lounge. To my knowledge, nothing has ever been hit in one." |

| Thanks for the advice. I had a great time. The report from BJ21 came in real handy. The intelligence was spot on. I played the Bellagio and Aria. By far the Bellagio had the best games. Played 6 deck shoes. Started with $2100 and after 2.5hrs I was up $700. Felt good. I thought I would try the Aria. Nice place but lost the $700 plus. Went back to the Bellagio a day later and did a marathon 8hr session. Walked away +$450. All in all a good trip. I saw some crazy stuff while there. I saw a guy take a $25,000 marker, drunk out of his mind, playing the $1000 min table. He kept yelling at the pit bosses and casino manager. He lost everything in about 1.5hrs. He then asked for another marker. The casino manager told him he was tapped out. He then made him sign some paperwork and he was done. Crazy to watch. I can't wait to go back. |

Subject : Pro21, the Flamingo Capri and me posted by Crazy_Pete on Jul-25-2010 12:05pm |
| I was recently re-reading an old Blackjack Forum (Fall 2001), which mentions 'Tales From the Trenches', most memorable stories from top pros of various gambling disciplines. I had my .0000000015 minutes of fame by being referred to in Grosjean's story (I was referred to as 'Unknown Man'). One of the Tales was credited to 'Pro21', who I assume is the same Pro21 who posts here and is, obviously, indeed a Top Pro (I'm not bad, but I can't hold his jockstrap). Anyway, he talks about his first Vegas trip, and mentions how he stayed at the Flamingo Capri. That was a ROFLMFAO moment for me... I didn't think anyone else remembered that place! (even tho their 'garden apt' hotel rooms are STILL there, part of IP, and labeled as The Capri Building). Hey, Pro21, the Flamingo Capri was the 1st place I stayed at, too! Ah, the memories! Day after Christmas, 1975. Went with 4 high school friends. 2 were underaged, but no one ever got carded (Vegas was VERY lax about carding anyone who looked older than Junior High age, a HUGE difference from now). In a prime Strip location, but the place was absolutely dead. One thing that stood out was how sloppy dealers were when they peeked for BJ- I was just a fledgling counter at the time, but the concept of Spooking became immediately obvious to me (probably could have done '1st basing' solo if the idea had occured to me). Their surveillance and game protection apparently amounted to nothing more than magnified parabolic mirrors over the tables, and my friends later told me how, with the only pitcritter drunk and napping, the dealer intentionally hit a few of his 17's and paid off his larger betting colleague along with the rest of the table. Ah, the Good Old Days, wish game protection was like that now! Several other stories come back to mind, like how we all came very close to getting killed, literally, on the drive back to California. The 25 cent hot dogs. Candy The Dealer. The many exploitable possibilities that I was oblivious to. Watching the original 'Hail Mary Pass' with my best friend who was a HUGE Vikings fan. |

| Hey Pete, I hadn't checked this board in a long time so just now saw this post. I actually didn't get to stay at the Flamingo Capri because they had overbooked it. They moved me to the old Showboat out on Boulder Hwy. I didn't remember I had ever written about that. Good memories. |

Subject : Dealing 21 to Uston/Kreskin posted by JSTAT on Sep-05-2010 05:31pm |
| I dealt single deck blackjack to Kreskin in 1979 on the graveyard shift at Harolds Club in Reno. He was doing a show at Harrah's and decided to play blackjack afterwards. The table was empty and he came up to my table and bought in with a $100 bill. Kreskin hardly said a word and spread $5-$20 and won a couple of hundred dollars. From seeing his shows, I was wondering if Kreskin could read my mind while peeking under a ten card or ace, looking for the dreaded dealer blackjack. Kreskin said he does not read minds and plays blackjack to unwind after a show. He also said that Harrah's barred him from playing blackjack and was welcome at Harolds Club playing this small amount. The Amazing Kreskin is a true blackjack aficionado and from my own empirical analysis, one of the best 21 players in the world. He uses playing cards for a living as a mentalist and probably is as close to Ray from the movie "Rainman" in his ability to remember cards as anyone in the world. On an another occasion at Harolds Club, a pit boss gave me a tap on the shoulder while dealing craps and instructed me to deal 21 to a high roller who was winning big. The whale turned out to be blackjack legend Ken Uston who was playing $500 chips and torching the table. The superstitious pit felt that a craps dealer can put an end to Uston's winning streak. I happened to be on a winning run for the house and beat him until he finally surrendered after losing much of his winnings back. Maybe the other dealers weren't protecting the game such as exposing hole cards and delivering tells to Uston when checking for blackjacks. In Uston's book "Million Dollar Blackjack" he refers to "Barbara, the Harolds Club front-loader" (front loader - a careless dealer who exposes the hole card in the process of dealing) and maybe I was sent to replace Barbara who was dumping house money. While working at the Sahara Reno in August 1978, a cheer was heared among the pit when it was announced that Uston was beat up by security at the Mapes Money Tree. Didn't know who Uston was until the pit bosses claimed he was a cheat and deserved the thumping. Others said he was a card counter and this was a message to card counters all over the world. This perked my interest in card counting and the challenge it provides. While dealing craps in Las Vegas in 1980, a casino called The Treasury (now Hooters) on Tropicana Boulevard displayed Uston's name on its marquee. He was giving lessons on card counting at this casino! Did he sell his soul to the enemy or want to see his name in lights? Is card counting bunk and a sham was my first impression during the sight of this marquee. Recalling Kreskin's skill at winning at blackjack has stuck to this day. Kreskin did not use weak dealers to gain an advantage and probably used his knowledge of excess aces and tens to win. Bet with your head instead of over it and don't worry about "cheaters justice" (from the movie Casino) because the corporations running casinos now are smart enough to avoid the old tactics. http://casinoexaminer-jstat.blogspot.com/2010/09/dealing-21-to-ustonkreskin.html |

Subject : Questions on the count posted by amwbaw123 on Aug-31-2010 04:26pm |
| In a 6 deck shoe if they shuffle at 4.5 decks is it actually a 4.5 deck in the count? Also, how often do you recalculate the discard? |

amwbaw123 wrote: > In a 6 deck shoe if they shuffle at 4.5 decks is it actually a 4.5 deck in the count? If you're trying to calculate the true count, you divide by the number of cards unseen, including any cards behind the cut card. Example: You're sitting at a 6 deck shoe game, you've seen the faces of 52 cards and counted them to get your running count. You divide the running count by 5 (10 if you're working with half decks) to get the true count. Some people find it easier to multiply by 0.2, which has the same effect as dividing by 5. Hope that answers your question... > Also, how often do you recalculate the discard? Now ya got me. The discard is the discard. What's to calculate? ETF |
